Well, the server hosting company still hasn't come through. We have, however, put together another way for you to order the Virtual Playbook for NCAA Football 08.

Could still be a while
I think my host bit off a little more than they can chew. I got an update this morning around 7 AM. They have about 2000 servers back online out of 4000 or so. They are bringing in more staff to get things rolling along a bit faster. Not sure when we'll go back online, but needless to say my fuse is getting a bit short as we have been down since Thursday afternoon.
I'll keep you guys posted as things change. It could be any minute, or it could be hours.

Getting Closer
They have racked and powered up the 700+ servers that are part of the move. They are 60% done with the cabling. One of our 2 servers is up. But not the forum & ordering system. Should be later tonight!!

The Server has arrived...
The 3 trucks with servers have all arrived at the facility. Truck 1 is unpacked and the machines are online. Truck 2 is 50% up. I don't know which truck the VG Server is on, but I'm guessing it's Truck 3 since the site didn't go offline until after midnight.
The new word is that all systems will be unpacked and online by 7:00 PM. Maybe we'll luck out and be on the back half of Truck 2.
They are going to post another update around 4pm.
Hang in there! We need more highlights, I would like to pick a winner as soon as the server comes back online.
Thanks--Bert

Update on the Server
If you reached this page while trying to get to the VG Sports Forums, then you've come to the right place...sort of. Our server is in transit from Miami to Tampa, Fl for relocation in a new facility.
We have been told that the outage will be about 12-15 hours. The server was taken off line Saturday morning around 12:30 AM so I would think we would be back up and running between 1pm and 3pm today.
There were some weather issues in Tampa which delayed the process a bit. There are three truckloads coming with servers so the site could be up earlier.
I'll make another updated around 10:15 when then change their support phone message to give us news on progress.

NCAA Football 08 - Highlight Contest

Okay Gentlemen, here's the deal. Since the server is down (or just about to be), let's have a little contest. You guys should have had plenty of time to load up some killer highlights to the EA Sports World website.
In case you haven't heard of this yet, or just have the current gen game, the EA Sports World website is a place where you can post your best game highlights and pictures for all to see.
Using the comments option on this post, give us the Feed URL to your video. We'll take them all into consideration and pick our favorite (me and the staff). The winner will get a $50 Best Buy Gift Card, courtesy of VG Sports.
Here's what we need for you to post as a comment below:
1) Your EA Sports World profile name
2) The game your video belongs in
3) The specific highlight you want
4) A brief description of the highlight.
For example one of mine would be:
1) dingopimp72
2) UCLA vs. Florida
3) 2nd & 7 First Quarter
4) QB#15 hits WR#1 on the screen. WR#1 shakes and bakes for a 21 yard gain.
We'll announce the winner in the morning. We've got to have at least 10 entries before we announce a winner.
VG Sports breaks down some Auto-Motion
In case you missed it, here's VG Bert breaking down some of the Florida Auto-Motion plays.
1-5-5 DT Blitz
Ok gamers, let's get it poppin. The game has released and the buzz that has been created over the first few days of the release is down right amazing. I know many of you may have ventured online and found things a little sick with the interceptions but I have something here that can help get you a shot at getting the ball back for your offense quickly. That's right, first week, first serious heat come get in the kitchen with us as we turn up the heat. BAM!!!!!!

I'm going to give this a shot and see how it works. I will give you a big picture of the play diagram since it is now possible to do so in NCAA. Take a look at the design of the zero coverage blitz.

On offense I bring the Ohio State team to the practice field running the Ace-Slot-Strong Z Option. This play takes advantage of the new auto motion feature in the game. You will notice online a lot of players are using the auto motion feature.

Every year the pressure that is found some how comes through the "A" gap. This 1-5-5 blitz is no different. The stacked linebacker (Dan Conner) from Penn State is the key defender on this blitz.

When the quarterback starts the play the defensive tackle engages the center and creates a lane for the blitzing middle linebacker. This also happens because of the natural alignment of the Nickel-1-5-5.

Behind the play you have a slot receiver running a crossing route. Our linebacker is directly in the path of the throw and he will wreck the quarterback if he tries to step into this throw.

In case the quarterback was to throw, I have included this image to alert you to the fact that the defense as a whole plays the pass better this year. The linebacker will jump and bat the ball down if the QB attempts the throw.

The blitz puts the quarterback in a no win situation as he has to choose between throwing a sure to be batted down or intercepted ball, or take the sack. Looks like our linebacker helped him out with the right decision here.
Final Thoughts
In the first week of the game being out this is a blitz that is very consistent. I would caution you to make sure you take advantage of the new defensive playmaker controls to help take away the threat of giving up the big play when running a cover 0 defense. Make sure you take anything you read into the lab and apply it before taking it online or in a head to head game. Application is just as key as knowledge, so don't cheat yourself.
What's up with Site?
Hi guys,
If you are coming here, it must be because you got my message about the forum outage. We've been through some hell the last 36 hours, but I feel hopeful that the worst is behind us.
My web hosting company is in them middle of moving to a new location. Basically they are shutting down all of their dedicated servers, loading them on a big truck and then driving them all to the new location in Tampa, Fl.
The place where they are moving it is like the Fort Knox of web hosting. If you go to Hostaway's Site you can see a Virtual Tour of the site on the middle right of the page. Crazy stuff. But the good news is the ole VG Server should be safe and secure.
The server was scheduled to be taken down around 8PM tonight for the move. Not sure exactly when it will go down, could be a couple of hours later.
Unfortunately as part of the process the IP addresses had to be changed on the server. This was supposed to have been already done, but somebody dropped the ball at the host. That's why the forums and collegefootballtips.com sites fell off the earth yesterday.
The forum database and ordering system are on the same server. So you couldn't get to the forum, couldn't order any guides and we couldn't send you codes for your ebooks.
We are scheduled to be back online tomorrow by 11 am. I'm confident (fingers crossed) that we'll be back in biz then.
